GILGIT: Situation after yesterday’s bloody violence here and target killings in Chilas taking the toll to 14, still remains volatile despite the clamping of curfew, as reports of sporadic firings pouring in from some areas.
Sources said that curfew break could be given at any time in the day or in the evening today.
Chilas yesterday’s target killing victims’ bodies still lying over there, while the mobile service remains shut all around the town.
Skardu observing strike in protest against the target killing in Chilas, all schools remained closed, while the attendance in government offices recorded nominal. Traffic is also less than normal. The bodies of two persons killed in Chilas would be brought to Skardu.
Astoor also went tense due to Gilgit’s bedlam. Government sources said that all the private channels have been gagged. Astoor Deputy Commissioner, Shahbaz Tahir Nadeem has prohibited all traffic at entry and exit roads in his area.
